Baby Cots
Whether you’re looking to buy a baby cot for the first time, or looking for another for your family, Seena has a range of cots to suit each family. As you add an additional nursery furniture in your nursery, you will start to notice that the cot is one of the most important items you will purchase. In their first 3 years, your baby will spend a lot of time in their cot, it will grow with them as they reach some major milestones, which is why the selection process of choosing a cot is one that is important for your family. Seena has a variety of different cots to choose from, take our Rio Cot, Venice Cot, Ancona Cot, as well as our cot with wheels, compact cot and wooden cot collection, each of these cots are in compliance with Australian Safety Standard AS/NZS 8124.3:2012. Knowing this, our customers can have peace of mind that their Seena cot has been tested to the highest safety cot standards in Australia and New Zealand. Our baby cots meet all of these requirements, including cot depth, the space between the cot bars, the gap between both the mattress and the cot and others. Some Seena cots feature a dropside, and some do not, however, those that do have been tested and are in compliance with Australian and New Zealand safety standards, ensuring your baby’s cot is a safe and comfortable space for them to sleep, one which will be with them for years to come. Our baby cots also have the INPAA stamp of approval, so you can kick back and relax knowing your little one is sleeping in a cot that meets the highest safety and quality criteria. Seena baby cots are made to last and grow with your baby, where it isn’t necessary to purchase both a bassinet and a cot, if you don’t want to. Our cots have various base settings, ensuring your baby has a safe and comfortable place to sleep, from the very first day you bring them home with you. Most of our cots have a bassinet height setting, and at this base height, your baby will be safe and comfortable, allowing parents to access them easily in those first few months. Unsure of the size of cots? Check out our complete cot mattress size guide to learn more! When your baby is ready to move to their cot from the bassinet, or a change in the cot base height, (they may have expressed signs of readiness), our cots allow you to easily change the bassinet base setting to a cot setting, simply by lowering the base. A lower base setting ensures your baby is not at risk of falling out of the cot, and as parents, you are still able to lift them from the cot easily. Our team at Seena values practicality and functionality, for parents and children. Additionally, we want our products to be a part of your family for years, growing with your children, as they grow too. Some Seena cots have the ability to be converted to a toddler bed, ensuring longevity with your Seena cot. Seena’s baby furniture is Australian designed, designed with functionality, ease-of-use and aesthetic, all front of mind, allowing Australian families to build and create a nursery that is comfortable and cozy for their little ones.
Types of Cots
We have tried to simplify the cots you might run into. The key things to look out for is the size, you have various sized full size cots as well as some compact cots. All our cots (full and compact) have 2 heights. Our full sized cots can also be converted into a toddler bed. Our compact cots are on wheels for mobility, but their compact size means they cannot be used as a toddler bed. Finally, some full size cots also have the option of a dropside which makes it easier to get baby in and out of the cot.
We are constantly updating our range and working with designers to release new cots. We focus not only on looks, but functionality and safety. We understand how important a safe sleeping space is and aim to make it not only safe but aesthetic.
Our cots go through a rigorous design process. We partner with leading design teams based in Australia and occasionally international designers if they align with our vision. We love our products and want to make sure your Tasman Eco furniture is a staple of your nursery
With a strong focus on design often we see prices jump up. We want Tasman Eco to be accessible and aim to have a range which covers multiple price points. We have had the privilege to work with multiple designers to ensure we get to deliver beautiful products to our customers.
When functionality and design meet. Our dropside cots make it a little bit easier to get baby in and out of the cot. They are all tested to the rigorous Australian standards and are completely safe for use.

FAQs
How do I choose a baby cot?
Safety comes first - any cot sold in Australia must comply with the Australian standards. This addresses things like gap spacing, build quality, heights and ensures a mattress will fit snugly.
Functionality is also important. In Australia cots can have up to two heights, which save your back when the baby is smaller and then it can be lowered down when they're older.
Cots can be used from birth, many parents begin with a bassinet because it’s smaller and easier to move around the house. Depending on your baby’s size and development, bassinets are generally suitable until around six months of age.
What is the difference between a crib and a cot?
A cot and a crib are the same, a small bed and/or sleeping space for your little one to sleep in their early years, normally from when they are born until about 3 to 4 years of age.
Cot is used in Australia and the UK and crib is normally used in the USA. Other than this, there are no other differences.
There may be differences in 'cribs' sold in the USA as they have different regulations
What's the difference between a cot and a cot bed?
This can be a bit confusing. Sometimes a cot bed can be used to refer to a full size cot and cot might refer to compact cots.
The two are different in sizes, a compact cot is smaller and often on wheels. It will fit through a standard door. If you're short on space or wanting a more mobile option, compact cots are a great choice. The flip side is the child might outgrow them sooner. Most compact cots can't turn into toddler beds.
A full size cot, is less mobile but can be converted into a toddler bed. This means your child will be able to use it for longer.
There is no right or wrong option, it comes down to what works best for your situation.
Do I need a bassinet and a cot?
All of our cots (full and compact sizes) come with the option of the newborn (bassinet) height.
The bigger consideration around if you need both a bassinet and a cot is how you plan on using them. Having your newborn close by is critical in the early months and sometimes a fixed cot doesn’t allow for this (space restrictions in your room etc). A bassinet solves this.
Bassinets often come on wheels and comfortably fit through standard doors allowing you to have a safe sleeping space for your little one wherever you may be in the house.
Are drop-side cots safe?
Dropside cots are not banned in Australia. Australia has a fantastic global reputation when it comes to safety in baby products. The Australian standard AS/NZS 2172: 2013, identify dropside cots as safe, if they meet the guidelines outlined in the standard.
Dropside cots are regulated safely in most countries, except for the United States, who have banned the use of dropside cots. The United States banned dropside cots due to the lack of quality in construction and the standard they had used was ineffective in testing the use of a dropside cot. The Australian standard, AS/NZS 2172: 2013, has ensured that dropside cots are a safe and secure option for families searching for a new baby cot.
